Secundal, Quartal, and Quintal Chord Families (Lesson 28)


One may also stack seconds, fourths or fifths, known respectively as Secundal (ex. C-D-E), Quartal chords (ex. G-C-F#-A-D) and Quintal Chords (ex. G-D-A-E-B-F#). Each of these chord constructs can be perfect, augmented or diminished – however, these chord constructs of second, and fourth and fifths do not have traditional names unlike triad chords.
